The professional creative studio for AI animation

WonderCanvas is not another general-purpose AI platform. It is an infinite-canvas creative workspace built around the standards, needs, and workflows of professional studios. Its design is informed by years spent working directly with anime production pipelines.

We unlock the full potential of the world's most powerful image and video models.

  • Specialized animation tools

Precision control tools for animation, storyboarding, Design work, and shot development, help artists apply AI to the real tasks of animation production.

  • Production-ready workflows

Move from pre-production assets through generation, iteration, review, and handoff in one visual workspace, with context preserved.

  • Layers of control built for real productions

Guide AI models with sketches, storyboards, model sheets, and other production references to keep every result aligned with your creative direction.

AI Animation Workflows

  • Design Reference to Animation

Combining reference images with a detailed prompt is a simple but powerful way to generate animation with greater visual direction and control. Provide the video model with production references such as:

    • Character designs and model sheets
    • Background and environment designs
    • Prop and vehicle designs

    Input Reference Media

    Characters
    • Driver model sheet — front, side, back and three-quarter views with helmet and gloves
    • Second driver model sheet in a blue race suit, with helmet, gloves and boots
    Backgrounds
    • Pit garage interior looking out to the grandstand
    • Coastal mountain road at sunset

    • Car 17 turnaround — front, side, rear, top and interior
    • Car 08 turnaround — front, side, rear, top and interior
    Generated from the references
Racing sequence generated from the reference sheets alongside
  • Layout to Animation

    • Input a rough sketch storyboard or layout animation sequence as a video, with a character reference image.
    • Canvas returns a fully colored, animated sequence of your character.
    • With directional lighting control.

    Animatic to Animation

The animatic becomes the source of truth for the shot. WonderCanvas ingests every pre-production asset you have for it as reference input:

    • The shot's animatic
    • Color boards
    • Script & screenplay
    • Dialogue audio
    • Character model sheets

The workflow reads the animatic itself, so the staging and composition of the finished shot are the ones you already approved. The output is a fully colored, composited animated shot — with dialogue and full lip sync driven by your own recordings.

  • Storyboard to Animation

Turn an entire production storyboard into finished animation in a single generation. Provide WonderCanvas with:

    • A production storyboard
    • Character, environment, and prop references
    • A detailed creative prompt

Every shot returns as a complete, sequential animation aligned with your storyboard and reference materials.

      Live Action Pre-vis

Provide any video along with a style reference image and a prompt. WonderCanvas transforms your video by applying the selected visual style.

      Live action to Animation

Input a live-action video of a character motion with re-timed frames.

WonderCanvas follows the frame timing, creating a variable-speed motion capture.

Pre-production Assets

  • Rough Board to Color Board

A color board version of a rough storyboard panel gives you far greater control over the final animated cut. It settles the lighting, the composition and the overall vibe of a shot, and lets you refine and lock every visual detail as an image before moving on to the animation phase. In WonderCanvas, provide:

    • The shot's rough sketched storyboard.
    • The correlating character model sheets.
    • A background reference.

    WonderCanvas generates the color board.

  • Layers

Assembling the frame — one layer at a time.

    Layer Decompose

Deconstruct a composed image into editable layers. Characters, props, foreground elements and the background are separated onto individual layers.

    • Native transparent PNGs for character and object layers.
    • An automatically reconstructed clean background plate.
    • Occlusion healing beneath foreground elements.
    • Original canvas dimensions and spatial registration preserved.
    • Per-layer quality checks and selective reruns.
    • Immediate editing and recomposition in the built-in compositor.

Where a foreground object covers a character, the hidden part of the character is reconstructed underneath it — so any layer can be moved, resized, edited or regenerated on its own, without rebuilding the frame. From a single flat image to a flexible, production-ready scene.

  • A character turnaround and expression sheet, generated on model
Turnarounds and expression sheets that stay on model

    Model sheets and settei

Generate full character model sheets and expression guides in a locked art style — pre-production that stays on model.

  • Backgrounds

    • Sketch to full color compositions

Input sketch layouts to colorize, refine, and transform them into fully detailed compositions — in any style.

    • Rough color blocking to refined composition

  • Inputs
The line art to be colored — the spear warrior mid-lunge, drawn in clean line
    Line art
The color reference — the spear warrior's model sheet, on model and in color
    Color reference
The output — the same drawing, filled in and on model
    Output · Colored

    Colorize character

Two inputs, one pass. Give WonderCanvas the line art you want colored, plus a color reference for the character — the model sheet does it — and the output is that same drawing filled in, on model.

  • The Composer: a mask painted over the spear, a prompt typed, and the change applied

    In-painting

In WonderCanvas Composer, draw a mask over any area of an image you want to change, then say what it should become. Only what is inside the mask is regenerated — the rest of the frame is left exactly as it was. Layer control is supported too, so an edit can target a single layer rather than the whole picture.

Composer: layered, precise edits

When a shot needs surgical work, send it to Composer. Layers, masks, and object-aware segmentation; in-paint to refine a region, out-paint to extend a frame — then export a layered PSD for downstream work.

The Composer workspace: a layer stack down the left, the warrior on the canvas, and an in-painting prompt typed below it

The best models, one studio

Pick the right model for every shot. Alongside Kamikai's own custom-trained models, WonderCanvas carries the best closed-source and frontier models — image and video generation, side by side on the same canvas.

On top of the closed models we build proprietary layers of control, which is what unlocks their raw potential and makes them usable in real production. You decide where, how, and how much AI belongs in your process.
